BACKGROUND <br />This was the first of two (2) proposed construction phases that will ultimately result in <br />the renovation of the landscape plantings and irrigation system for all 20 separate <br />roadway median islands on West Las Positas Boulevard, from Santa Rita Road to <br />Boardwalk Street. This first phase renovated the eight (8) landscaped median islands <br />from Santa Rita Road to Rockingham Drive. These median islands had declined in <br />appearance over the past several years, and were at a point where the irrigation <br />systems and plantings required complete replacement. <br />On December 4, 2007, the City Council awarded a construction contract to the firm of <br />Planned Environments, Inc. of Concord, for the low bid of $213,369. Construction work <br />began in late February, 2008, and was completed satisfactorily and on-time. A 90-day <br />maintenance/plant establishment period followed construction, and that maintenance <br />period is now complete. <br />Submitted by: <br />~~ <br />es W.
