EXHIBIT "A"

SCOPE OF WORK
DESIGN OF HOPYARD ROAD/I-580 INTERCHANGE MODIFICATIONS
STAGE 2 IMPROVEMENTS
CITY OF PLEASANTON

Task 1. Prepare Preliminary _~eSign and Estimate

This duty is the pre-requisite step to initiation of the design process. There
must be agreement among all interested agencies and approval by the City and
Caltrans (owners) of the final geometrics before detailed design can commence.
Any refinement of roadway geometrics would be accomplished during this phase.

A. Preliminary Design 1. Review site
2. Review preliminary Caltrans geometrics
3. Prepare estimates for preliminary design
4. Circulate geometrics to City, State
5. Revise geometrics
6. Obtain City & Caltrans approval of final geometrics

Task 2. P.er.f.Orm Fi.eld Surv..ey.s

1. Review site w/Caltrans, Obtain survey permit
2. Perform supplementary surveys and mapping
3. Obtain copies of as-built plans

Task 3. Determine U_ti_lity Relocation Needs -

The preliminary tasks of this work may be accomplished during the preliminary
design period. The work includes "verifying existing utilities" and "searching
out applicable utility relocation agreements."

This contract does not include reimbursement costs to utility companies for
preparation of utility relocation plans. It is believed that eligible costs
may be reimburseable under appropriate City or State Master Utility agreements.
Therefore, the purpose of this task is to ascertain the rights of the various
parties so that this work may proceed.

When approved, copies of the final geometrics will be furnished the concerned
utility companies. As necessary, field reviews will be made with utility
company representatives. Where necessary, utility relocation plans will be
transferred to the geometrics base map. Utility clearance plans will be
transmitted to the owners for review and approval.

The final step is preparing necessary utility agreements between the owners and
the utility companies. In the usual case, standard forms are used; however,
the needs of each relocation must be described and costs assigned in accordance
with the master agreements.

1. Verify existing utilities
2. Determine applicable utility relocation agreements
3. Furnish approved geometrics to utility companies

-1-
