RESOLUTION NO. 08-227 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL <br />MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2008 FOR THE <br />SUBMISSION TO THE VOTERS A QUESTION RELATING TO THE SAVE <br />PLEASANTON'S HILLS & HOUSING CAP INITIATIVE, AND RELATED ELECTION <br />MATTERS <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of <br />California a General Municipal Election shall be held on November 4, 2008 to submit to the <br />voters at the election a question relating to the Save Pleasanton's Hills & Housing Cap Initiative; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 9282 specifies that the legislative body, or <br />any member or members of the legislative body authorized by that body, may file a written <br />argument for any City measure; and <br />WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 9285 sets forth the procedures for rebuttal <br />arguments; and <br />WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 9280 specifies that the City Council may <br />direct the City Clerk to transmit a copy of the initiative measure to the City Attorney to prepare <br />an impartial analysis thereof. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to <br />General Law Cities does order submitted to the voters at the General Municipal Election the <br />following question: (As to this section, motion carried with Mayor Hosterman and <br />Councilmember Cook-Kallio voting against.) <br />Shall the Save Pleasanton's Hills and Housing Cap I C <br />Citizens' Initiative be adopted? <br />N <br />O <br />Section 2. "that the proposed complete text of the measure submitted to the voters is <br />as follows: <br />Save Pleasanton's Hills & Housing Cap <br />Full Text of Initiative <br />Purpose <br />"the purpose of this initiative is to protect our city from uncontrolled growth and the impact it has <br />on ridgelines and hillsides, traffic, schools, water supply, and our overall quality of life. <br />
