OPERATING CONDITIONS 1. Tow companies must hold and maintain a current, valid City of Pleasanton business license. 2. Service must be provided 24 hours per day, seven days per week, without exception. 3. The operator must have available a minimum of two {2) adequate tow trucks and drivers. Equipment shall be subject to police inspection as determined by the Pleasanton Police Department. Tow vehicles will be maintained in compliance with the provisions of Sections 24605, 25253, 25300, 27700 and 27907 of the California Vehicle Code; Section 9701 of the Revenue and Taxation Code. 4. Tow service operators and tow truck drivers employed by the tow service will be sufficiently capable to insure safe and proper discharge of their service responsibilities. Tow service operators and tow truck drivers will be properly licensed in accordance with Section 12804 of the California Vehicle Code. 5. The tow operator shall be responsible for removal of all debris resulting from any automobile accident from which he tows. 6. The tow operator will assume responsibility for proper security of auto- mobiles and personal property. The tow service will provide a receipt whenever any items is removed from a stored vehicle and taken to another place of storage. One copy of the receipt will be placed in the stored vehicle, and one will be provided to the Pleasanton Police Department Records division to be attached to the original police report. 7. Tow operators will remove all wrecked and abandoned automobiles regard- less of condition, at police request. 8. Tow operators will be responsible for all lien sales, notifications, etc., incidental to disposal of abandoned vehicles, as required by law. 9. Tow operators will keep records of all tows, the disposition of the tows, and charges made. The records will be available for inspection by an authorized member of the Pleasanton Police Department. 10. Vehicles on which "holds" are placed by the Pleasanton Police Department shall not be released without written authorization of the Pleasanton Police Department. II. Tow operators will provide for the release of automobiles to owners upon payment of charges during reasonable hours of the day (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM), including Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Release of vehicles between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM is not mandatory. The tow company has the right to refuse to release a vehicle during the hours of 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM unless a specific request is made by the on-duty Pleasanton Police Department supervisor. The tow company may elect to release a vehicle during these hours and an additional charge of $20 may be levied. -2-
