Attachment 1 <br />City of Pleasanton <br />Environment & sustainability Program Summary <br />Policies/Polic Drivers <br />Program Services/Practices <br />Construction and Demolition Debris Diversion Ordinance development is pending. <br />Ordinance <br />General Plan Several sustainability components: sustain fiscal health of the city, <br /> planned development considering density and TOD, carbon footprint <br /> reduction, preservation of urban edge and growth boundary, energy <br /> and water components. <br />Community Monitoring Committee (CMC) Maintains oversight of the Altamont landfill operations. <br />Education Advisory Board (EAB) Maintains oversight of the funds designated for diversion education <br /> and jobs in the field of waste diversion and recycling. <br />Green Building Ordinance Sets green building parameters for commercial and residential <br /> projects. <br />Generator Siting Ordinance (GSO) The GSO addresses the production of electricity in relation to land <br /> use, sets regulations for all generators including photovoltaic and wind <br /> power facilities, fuel cells, gas and emergency generators, designates <br /> sites for these facilities and sets parameters regarding odor, air <br /> pollution, toxic and hazardous waste routing, noise, waste waster <br /> dis osal, exterior a earance, and other land use to ics. <br />The Pleasanton Energy Plan Along-range guide with policies that guide the review of new projects <br /> and new ordinances. <br /> Projects include: energy efficiency for the Library involving the HVAC <br /> replacement and the design for the older side of the aquatic center. <br />75% Waste Reduction by 2010 Adopted resolution establishing a 75% waste reduction to landfills by <br /> the year 2020 in accordance with the countywide reduction goal. <br />Bay Friendly Program The City Council adopted a resolution for the Bay Friendly Program, <br /> establishing Bay friendly landscaping requirements for city funded <br /> projects including traditional public works projects and public-private <br /> partnerships. <br />Green Fleet Policy City staff is in the final stages of developing a green fleet policy for city <br /> fleet. <br />-1- <br />U:~Energy~Pleasanton -Environment and sustainability Programs Survey 2008 7-3 Final.doc <br />
