THE CITY OF <br />- ~' °' -~- '"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~E~S~4NTONo <br />July 15, 2008 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION WITH THE <br />METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR <br />ALLOCATION OF TDA FUNDS FOR THE VALLEY AVENUE BICYCLE <br />GAP CLOSURE PROJECT <br />SUMMARY <br />This report recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving <br />the application with MTC for Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funds in <br />the amount of $47,102. These funds will be applied to the Valley Avenue Bicycle Path <br />Gap Closure Project. This project will construct a new, paved bicycle path along the <br />extension of Valley Avenue between Case Avenue and Sunol Boulevard. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing an application with the Metropolitan Transportation <br />Commission (MTC) for $47,102 in Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 <br />funds for the Valley Avenue Bicycle Path Gap Closure Project. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The $47,102 is the 100% funding amount allocated to the City for fiscal year 2008/09 <br />from TDA Article 3. This funding will be used to construct the Valley Avenue Bicycle Gap <br />Closure Project. The engineer's estimate on the Gap Closure project is $80,000. The <br />total project with contingency is $92,000. This project will be funded with 2007/08 TDA <br />funds in the amount of $50,000 and the 2008/09 funds in the amount of $42,000. The <br />additional $5,102 of 2008/09 funds will be used on the project if additional contingency <br />funds are required. If not, these funds will be returned for use on a future Pleasanton <br />TDA eligible project. <br />
