AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION (c) OF §2-5.37 (FRONT YARDS: REQUIREMENTS AND EXCEPTIONS) AND SUBSECTION (f) OF §2-5.38 (SIDE AND REAR YARD: REQUIREMENTS AND EXCEPTIONS) OF ARTICLE 3 (SITE, YARD, BULK, USABLE OPEN SPACE AND SCREENING AND LANDSCAPING REGULATIONS), CHAPTER 2, TITLE II (ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RELATING TO FENCES, WALLS AND HEDGES IN FRONT, SIDE AND REAR YARDS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subsection (c) of Section 2-5.37 of Article 3, Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: (c) No fence, hedge, or other screen planting in a re- quired front yard shall exceed two and one half feet in height except that higher decorative structures or planting screens incorporated into an identifiable landscaping scheme may be located in a required front ~. yard provided that: 1) no such structure or screen shall exceed six feet in height except decorative gate arch- ways which may be a maximum of eight feet in height. 2) the total lineal dimensions of all such structures and/or screens shall not exceed 20~ of the lot frontage; and 3) no structure on the property provided for herein shall occupy any easement for public utility purposes. In addition, no structure or planting of any type shall pose a traffic sight obstruction as regulated in Section 2-5.40. Section 2. Subsection (f) of §2-5.38 of Article 3, Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton relating to fences in side and rear yards is amended to provide as follows: (f) Fences, walls and hedges not over six feet in height and walks, driveways, and retaining walls i may occupy a required side or rear yard except that fences, walls and hedges in the side yard on the street side of a corner lot may not ex- ceed 30" in height and no such structure or hedge shall pose a traffic sight obstruction.
