3 <br />THE CITY OF <br />pL£~1S~4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />1 <br />June 17, 2008 <br />Economic Development <br />TITLE: ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION REVISING THE ECONOMIC VITALITY <br />COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP <br />SUMMARY <br />Membership on the Economic Vitality Committee (EVC) is designed to include <br />representation from the broad market segments that comprise Pleasanton's business <br />community. The current membership of the EVC provides 19 representatives on the <br />committee. In reviewing its current membership structure, the EVC recognized a change <br />in the number and types of business since its last update in 2003. To better reflect the <br />city's current business dynamic and to ensure a more balanced representation, the EVC <br />unanimously recommends to the City Council that four new positions be added and that <br />several of the membership positions be amended, bringing the number of positions on <br />the committee to 23. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Rescind Resolution No. 03-064 and adopt a new resolution revising the membership <br />categories of the Economic Vitality Committee (EVC) to: <br />1. add four new membership categories -Commercial Real Estate Development, <br />Residential Real Estate Broker, Community Based Organization and Business <br />at Large; and <br />2. combine and reposition other categories -Retail Business/Center changes to <br />Retail or Entertainment Center; Downtown Business changes to Pleasanton <br />Downtown Association; Financial Institution changes to Financial Services; <br />Environmental Community changes to Environmental Industry; Software and <br />Telecommunications consolidate to Information Technology; Biomedical <br />changes and expands to Medical Technology and Medical Services. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Approving the recommended changes in membership categories of the Economic <br />Vitality Committee would have no fiscal impact. <br />
