D. Fees: <br /> <br />In addition to fees charged by the Building Department for <br />building permits, the following fees will be collected by <br />the Building Department on behalf of the Engineering <br />Department prior to the issuance of any permits: <br /> <br /> 1. Grading Permit Fee - collected only if a <br /> separate Grading Permit is requested prior to final <br /> plan approval. The Fee is based on the criteria shown <br /> in Chapter 70 of the Uniform Building Code for Grading <br /> Permit Fees. The fee shown in Chapter 70 of the Code <br /> for "Plan Check" is not collected. <br /> <br /> 2. Encroachment Permit Fees - A- filing fee is <br /> charged at the time of issuance of Encroachment <br /> Permits. The fee is currently $8.00. This fee does <br /> not include any inspection fees. (See item number 3, <br /> below.) An Encroachment Permit must be obtained by the <br /> contractor anytime: <br /> <br /> a. Work will be done in the public right-of-way. <br /> <br /> b. Construction equipment will be moved to the <br /> site using public rights-of-way. <br /> <br /> c. Construction equipment will be accessing the <br /> site over existing public facilities, such as <br /> curb, gutter or sidewalk. <br /> <br /> 3. Inspection Fees - 2% of the total amount of the <br /> Engineer's Estimate for Onsite (Private) Site <br /> Improvement Costs is collected after the City Engineer <br /> has given Final Approval of the site plans. 4% of the <br /> total amount for Offsite (Public) is collected. <br /> <br /> 4. Hazard Control Bond - A surety bond or letter of <br /> credit must be posted with the Engineering Department, <br /> in an amount to be determined by the plan checker <br /> ($2,500 minimum) based on (1) the dollar value of <br /> construction proposed and (2) the apparent chances of <br /> project mishaps or contractor's negligence creating <br /> situations which are hazardous to the public. The bond <br /> is held in order to be used by the City in order to <br /> reimburse the City for the cost of any City forces <br /> which must be used to perform emergency work at the <br /> project in the event that a hazard is endangering the <br /> public and the contractor is unavailable or unwilling <br /> to immediately correct the hazard.
