Emerqency rvledic~l Services Aqreement <br /> <br /> Fhis Agreement is made and entered into this ..... day of , <br />19 , by and between the COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, he~einafter refer~~ed to as "COUNTY" <br />and the CITY OF , hereinafter referred to as "CITY". <br /> <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the COUNTY has established an Emergency Medical Services District <br />(EM-1983-11 to provide emergency paramedic ambulance service within the District; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the territory of the City of is within <br />the Emergency Medical Services District; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the CITY is Willing to provide first response to requests for <br />emergency medical assistance in order to perform emergency first aid and basic life <br />support prior to arrival of the ambulance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the CITY and COUNTY find it in the public interest to enhance <br />the availability of Emergency IVledical Services (EMS) within the jurisdiction of the <br />CITY: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY MUTUALLY AGREED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The COUNTY shall secure the services of an ambulance contractortsJ <br />to pr vide advanced life support (ALS) ambulance services to serve the Distric~ <br />which includes the territory of the CITY. The C~TY shall be consulted in the review <br />of contract terms, and, if interested, shall receive equal consideration as a contractor <br />for ambulance services. <br /> <br /> 2. The COUNTY shall provide the services of a medical emergency dispatch <br />center for dispatch and coordination of emergency ambulance services and shall provide <br />communications as required between the COUNTY and the ClTY'S "911" Public Safety <br />Answerin9 Point ( PSAP ). <br /> <br /> 3. The COUNTY shall monitor the quality of ambulance services including <br />the response times specified in the emergency ambulance agreement, personnel, equip- <br />ment, procedures, and billing practices. <br /> <br /> 4. Fhe CITY shall relay to COUNTY all requests for emergency ambulance <br />service received by its public safety agencies. <br /> <br /> 5. The CITY'S Fire Department shall respond according to its custom, practice, <br />procedures, and capabilities, and assist as needed at the scene of a medical emergency <br />when notified of such an emergency. The CITY reserves the right ~o cancel first <br />responder responsibilities under conditions of limited resources and will so notify <br />COUNTY when this occurs and when first respondel~ responsibilities are resumed. <br /> <br /> <br />
