BACKGROUND
America Supporting Americans (ASA) is a non-profit organization that coordinates
morale support to American service men and women by advising and assisting
communities with "adopting" a military unit.

In April 2003, the City Council indicated its support of ASA, approving Resolution No.
03-020 and adopting its first unit-C-Company, 526th FSB, 101 Airborne division, which
was stationed in Iraq. Over the years, in partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 6298, the adopted unit has received packages of support containing magazines,
newspapers, sports related material, writing paper, community event pictures and other
items of interest related to its adopted City.

The City of Pleasanton has been asked to continue its support of ASA and reaffirm its
adoption of C-Company, 526th FSB, 101 Airborne division, which was redeployed to Iraq
for a 15 month tour in October 2007. Attached for the Council's consideration is a
resolution designating Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6298 as the City's official liaison.

DISCUSSION

Ja es W.
