<br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />pLEASANTON@ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> <br />May 20, 2008 <br />Parks and Community Services <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />REAFFIRM THE CITY'S SUPPORT OF AMERICA SUPPORTING <br />AMERICANS ADOPT -A-UNIT PROGRAM <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />America Supporting Americans (ASA) is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization founded in <br />1968. Its mission is to link American military units with American communities that want <br />to share their support. During times of peace, this connection is intended to strengthen <br />moral support between the civilian sector and the men and women serving in the <br />military. During times of war, such as the present, ASA facilitates public expression of <br />support for the nation's military. In 2003, the City adopted its first unit through ASA and <br />again in 2005. The City coordinates its adoption of military units with the Veterans of <br />Foreign Wars Post 6298. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution reconfirming the City's participation in the ASA program and adoption <br />of unit of C-Company, 526th BSB, 101 st Airborne. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />There is no financial impact to the City associated with this action. <br /> <br />'..;.:;i;.<; ,,""'.j{.'L,~,," j:;i>""",;j;:;.>.~." <br />
