Steve Otto
From: Xin Chen
Sent: Friday, September 14, 2007 6:28 AM
To: Steve Otto
Subject: PUD-99-9-2M/PADR-1762
Dear Steve Otto,
We strongly oppose the second unit construction planned by Aman and Tee Bawa. It started
from last October when Aman tried to collect approval signatures from his surrounding
neighbors for his plan. All the most affected neighbors were angry about this selfish plan
and we have been voicing our concerns to Vineyard Hill Achitechtural Committee since then.
However, due to Aman's postion as a board of directors in Vineyard Hill Home Association,
any common knowledged person can imagine how hard this could be for the Achitechtural
Committee to reach a fair decision without shaking off his visible and invisible
influence.
We strongly suggest the City Planning Department to listen our voice and concerns, our
frustrations, and to make an unbias decision on this matter.
We don't know how rare, or how often, the City has seen such case, that a second unit plan
makes almost all the neighors feel sick and angry.
Following the regulation to reach a decision is a simple thing to do, but making an
approval that is only in favor of one person while place the surrounding neighbors in
dismal is certainly not a right thing to do by the City.
Here are some of our comments.
1. The planned second house will block our view from the stairway window where we go up
and down daily. It will also block the view from the second floor hallway, from one of the
bedroom and from the living room.
2. Our backyard is already 10-12 feet lower than Aman's. A structure of 13 feet high and
1200 sq feet right next to the yard will certainly make our backyard activity
unconfortable, and psychologically impact our daily life.
3. The 10-feet from the fence may work well to the small lot community.
However, In a relative large lot neighborhood, with relatively far distances among the
existing houses, the 10-feet is like RIGHT NEXT to us. The community has a limitation on
the height the trees we can plant, which will unable to block their sturcture from our
yard.
4. Our community is open-fenced. Any significant structure like this will have much more
impact to the entire community than the one with the regular good-neighbor fences.
5. We buy our house for the value of its low density and are paying the home association
fee that reflects what we deserve. We don't want to see any obstacle structures standing
around us, for any reason.
Xin Chen and Xiwen Fan
2618 Ingrid Ct
Pleasanton, CA 94566
1
