Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority
Special Transportation for Seniors and People with Disabilities
new service. The PPS Paratransit Task Force and the Pleasanton City Council were included
in the decision making for the new DTR.
During the first two (2) months of the DTR, extensive coordination with Wheels staff was
completed and a variety of travel training opportunities was planned. Both PPS and Wheels
staff continue regular outreach efforts regarding this program. PPS is also working to develop
stronger partnerships with the local business community, including financial incentives for
using the DTR.
During the first two (2) months of operation, 271 trips were completed and 50 seniors
purchased tickets for the program. Staff estimates that 4,000 trips annually will be completed
through this service. Initial feedback from riders has been very positive, and staff is
maintaining a log on rider suggestions. A phone survey regarding the service is scheduled in
Apri12008.
Pre and post customer satisfaction surveys will be solicited to assess program success and
needed improvements at six (6) month and one (1) year intervals. A financial analysis will
help determine program efficiency.
For FY 2008-09, staff anticipates expanding the DTR service to five (5) days a week and
increasing ridership to 5,000 annual rides. Monthly outreach meetings and travel training
opportunities are planned as part of the Measure B Gap Grant Application.
C:\Documents and Settings\pdeatonU.,ocal Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\Annual Program Application Cover FY0708 March 31
2008.doc
