PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />A. Presentations from Nonprofit Agencies and Recommendation to Allocate Federal <br />Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment <br />Partnership Program (HOME) Funds for Fiscal Year 2008 (2008-09) <br />Mr. Erickson advised that the City had been notified by HUD that its funding allocation <br />for FY 2008 would be $274,681, a 3.9% decrease over FY 2007. A total of sixteen (16) <br />applications were received by the deadline. The Human Services Commission reviewed <br />the ten (10) non-housing applications at its meeting on March 5 and the remaining six (6) <br />are to be reviewed at this meeting by the Commission. <br />Mr. Erickson reviewed with the Commission the funding requests received and the <br />available funding and reminded the Commission that 70% of the grants should to benefit <br />low-income people. He advised that staff was recommending several requests be funded <br />through the City's Lower Income Housing Fund. <br />Chairperson Stark opened up the meeting for comments from the agencies. There <br />were none. <br />Commissioner Hodgett had questions regarding the low funding recommendation made <br />by staff for the capital project application submitted by Neighborhood Solutions. Mr. <br />Erickson advised that funding for the Axis Community Health capital projects had been <br />recommended by the Human Services Commission, and that funding for Neighborhood <br />Solutions could be allocated from the Lower Income Housing Fund (LIHF) and other <br />options would be considered, if necessary. <br />Vicki Johnson, Neighborhood Solutions -advised that the agency would be drawing <br />down the current year's allocation for projects that are in progress. She felt it was <br />important to know what funds would be available for this program and was concerned <br />Page -1- <br />
