Mr. Carter advised that OHK was trying to find a centralized location and will be pursuing ways of <br />fundraising to help with accomplishing this. <br />Open Heart Kitchen - Ridge View Commons Senior Hot Meal Pro r~quipment Repair, Michael <br />Carter -This request was removed from the CDBG funding requests and will be funded through the Ridge <br />View Commons budget. <br />Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley - In-Home Counseling Support Groups, Marlene Petersen - <br />provided an overview of the Senior Support Program and the services provided which are all designed <br />around the needs of seniors. Ms. Petersen advised that funding is being requested to provide In-Home <br />counseling along with the continuation of the existing four support groups. She also noted that the <br />agency's goal was to provide transportation for seniors to be able to provide transportation to their seniors <br />and have applied for a grant for this. <br />Chairperson Lambert closed the Public Hearing at 8:30 p.m. <br />The Commission reviewed and discussed the Public Services and Capital Projects funding requests <br />received. They had questions about the CDBG funds to be allocated and whether any of the agencies were <br />also applying for City Grant funds. <br />Commissioners Nagler and Meribeth discussed the possibility of not approving the full funding request <br />from Tri-Valley Haven. They felt that funding requested for solar could be allocated to other projects. <br />Mr. Erickson provided information about the 2002 allocation to GRID Alternatives and the possibility that <br />funds from that project could be used for the solar portion of the Tri-Valley Haven request. He also <br />provided details about funding allocations and the notification that is required for HUD. <br />After discussion it was agreed by the Commission that separate motions should be made for the Public <br />Services and Capital Projects funding requests. <br />A motion was made by Commission Detweiler, seconded by Commissioner Nagler, recommending to <br />City Council that CDBG funds for Capital Projects be allocated as follows: <br />$ 100,000 Axis Community Health <br />$ 21,474 Sojourner House <br />35 000 Tri-Valley Haven <br />$ 151,474 <br />and that staff work with GRID Alternatives for possible reallocation of funds to Tri-Valley Haven for its <br />solar project. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Casper, Detweiler, Kennedy, Nagler, Wilson, and Chairperson <br /> Lambert. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Commissioners Rowland and Tenbrink. <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Human Services Commission Minutes <br />March 5, 2008 <br />Page 4 <br />
