BACKGROUND
One of the elements of the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan was to eliminate the
sanitary sewer pump station within the Foxbrough Estates by installing a gravity sewer
main between the pump station and the Vineyard Corridor improvements. This sewer
main was installed by one of the developers within the Specific Plan area and was
subsequently accepted by the City in December of 2006. Since the acceptance of the
gravity sewer main, the City's utility crews have been decommissioning the pump
station. At this time, only the building that housed the electrical service and telemetry
remain. The owners of the property on which the pump station is located has asked staff
to leave the building for their use as a garden shed. Since leaving the building saves the
cost of demolition, staff felt it appropriate to leave the building.
DISCUSSION
When the pump station for Foxbrough development was installed with the subdivision
improvements, it was intended to be temporary until such time as a gravity main could
be constructed. Since this station was interim, it was placed within an easement rather
than on land owned by the City, making the disposition of the City's interest in the
property much simpler. The easement measures approximately 238 square feet (see
attachment, vicinity map), and is located on 742 Foxbrough Place (Lot 5 of Tract 5902
Foxbrough II).
Only that portion of the public service easement containing the pump station will be
abandoned. The 8-foot wide public service easement located behind the City street
right-of-way is used for other existing City utilities and other utilities owned by PG&E,
Pacific Bell, and cable TV, and will remain.
Submitted by:
~~.~
Fiscal Review:
C
Approv d by:
Rob Wilson
Public Works Director
David P.
