s <br />^ <br />----- ---~- - -------- a <br />The Bay-Friendly Landscaping program has produced this guide <br />to aid landscapers in the reuse and reduction of plant debris. <br />Bay Friendly Landscaping is a project of StopWaste.Org. <br />StopWaste.Org is the Alameda County Waste Management <br />Authority and the Alameda County Source Reduction and <br />Recycling Board acting as one public agency. It is an integrated <br />public agency comprised of the County of Alameda, each of <br />the fourteen cities within the county and two sanitary districts <br />that also provide refuse collection services. Its mission is to <br />provide the most environmentally sound waste management <br />program for the residents, businesses and institutions of <br />Alameda County. Funding is derived solely from waste disposal <br />and waste import mitigation fees collected at the Altamont,Tri <br />Cities and Vasco road landfill sites. The agency receives no <br />general tax funds. <br />StopWaste.Org offers a wide range of programs in the areas <br />of source reduction, public education, sustainable landscaping, <br />home composting, green building, recycled product <br />procurement, technical assistance, low interest loans and grants. <br />Bay-Friendly Landscaping for Member <br />Agencies Design Resources & Grant Progran <br />StopWaste.Org's Bay Friendly Landscaping for Member <br />Agencies (BFMA) Program provides Bay-Friendly training, <br />design resources, and grant funding to its Member Agencies <br />(cities, county and sanitary districts in Alameda County).The <br />BFMA Program educates and provides support to member <br />agency staff, including officials, planners, landscape architects, <br />and maintenance staff, to help them implement Bay-Friendly <br />policies, design and maintenance practices.
