BACKGROUND The District's demographer, Tom Williams, Enrollment Projection Consultants, has provided aneighborhood-specific forecast for the Pleasanton Unified School District for several years. The attached report, projecting enrollment for the period of 2008-2009 to 2017, indicates that the District's enrollment will be in a slight decline over the next three years, with a minimal increase beyond that, with an eventual net decline in 2017-18. The basis for the enrollment projection is the expectation that the city build-out would eventually reach 27,700. However, the projected student numbers are developed on a year-by-year basis from data from the city's planning department as to how many residences are expected to be occupied over the next several years, not taken out to build-up by a specific date. 2007-2008 14, 802 2008-2009 14,731 2009-2010 14,728 2010-2011 14.747 2011-2012 14,750 2012-2013 14,777 2017-2018 14,601 Page 22 of the attached report is Appendix Al which details the Actual (2007-08) and Projected District Enrollment for 2008-09 through 2016-17. Includes in the report is information about student generation factors by housing type, actual and expected enrollments at the individual schools, and birth statistics that have used to determine the kindergarten enrollment.
