The Draft General Plan discusses existing and proposed school facilities in the Public <br />Facilities and Community Programs Element. District programs are also referenced <br />throughout the document, including: <br />o A description of the District's "Go Green" initiative in the Solid Waste section of <br />the Public Facilities and Community Programs Element; <br />o A description of the DARE program, Every 15 Minutes, and other PUSD and City <br />of Pleasanton partnership programs discussed in the Public Safety Element; <br />o A description of joint use agreements between PUSD and the City for public <br />recreational purposes in the Public Facilities and Community Programs Element; <br />and, <br />o A description of the use of photovoltaic panels on some school facilities in the <br />Energy Element. <br />STEPS FOR GENERAL PLAN ADOPTION <br />The work needed to complete the General Plan Update and a schedule for doing so are <br />discussed below. <br />A. Review of Remaining General Plan Elements by Planning Commission. The <br />Planning Commission's review of the Draft Air Quality and Draft Noise Elements <br />was completed on February 20th, 2008. Staff is currently amending the Draft <br />Elements as recommended by the Planning Commission. <br />Task timing: February/March 2008. <br />B. Preparation of DEIR. The Draft EIR is currently in preparation by PBS&J, <br />environmental consultants, and will be completed by early May 2008. <br />Task timing: January to May, 2008. Product: Draft EIR for public release. <br />C. Planning Commission Review of Public Hearing Draft General Plan. Staff is <br />currently consolidating the individual Draft Elements into a reformatted Public <br />Hearing Draft General Plan which will be the subject of public hearings by the <br />Planning Commission. <br />Task timing: April through May, 2008. <br />D. Public Review of Draft EIR. During the 45-day public review period, the <br />Planning Commission will invite public comment on the Public Hearing Draft <br />General Plan and DEIR through a workshop or at a scheduled Planning <br />Commission meeting. <br />Task timing: 45-day review period to run mid-May through the end of June 2008. <br />E. Preparation of Final EIR and Draft General Plan. Following the Planning <br />Commission public hearing(s), the consultant will draft a Final EIR and staff will <br />incorporate requested amendments into the Public Hearing Draft General Plan. <br />Task timing: July through mid-August 2008.
