This four route service is based on a
transit system implementation study concluded in 1985 by DKS
Associates.

The Short Range Transportation Plan (SRTP) was begun September
24, 1986 by JHK & Associates under contract with LAVTA. This
five year plan addresses the combined operations of Wheels and
RIDEO, which will be consolidated July 1, 1987. It makes
specific service and operational recommendations based on a major
assessment of current operations as well as surveys o£ current
riders and the general public. The plan concludes with a
recommended implementation schedule and financial plan for
capital and operating costs for FY1988 through FY1992, in
conformance with Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)
guidelines. The SRTP will be updated annually to ensure its
responsiveness to the needs of the communities served.

The draft SRTP has been reviewed by the LAVTA Technical Advisory
Committee, on which Pleasanton staff participates, and the LAVTA
Board of Directors.
