Suggested Work Plan Additions
Staff has evaluated the Work Plan and existing special projects that have surfaced in
recent months. The scope of these projects are appropriate for the Council's
consideration in adding them to the existing Work Plan.
The following is a summary of the optional new priorities. Exhibit B contains detailed
information regarding the newly proposed priorities.
• Staples Ranch: Master planning of community and neighborhood parks located on
Staples Ranch.
• Fire Sprinkler Ordinance: Modifications to the current sprinkler ordinance to include
remodeled and smaller buildings.
• Plan Bernal Community Park, Phase II: Begin the preliminary park design.
• Hillside Ordinance: Develop a hillside protection ordinance to limit
development/grading.
• Implement Downtown Public Arts Master Plan: Begin implementation of the
Downtown Public Art Master Plan recommendations.
.Alamo Canal Trail Extension: In cooperation with the City of Dublin and East Bay
Regional Park District, design the trail gap closure under I-580.
.Zoning Code Update: Update and streamline the commercial and industrial sections
of the Zoning Ordinance to more accurately reflect current business uses, streamline
the process of approving new businesses, thereby providing more efficient.
application of the Zoning Code and create a more business-friendly process.
• Citywide Open House: Implement an annual event open to the community that
provides information and demonstrations of City services from all departments. This
provides an opportunity for City employees and the community to interact and share
information about City services.
CONCLUSION
The City Council adopted the current Work Plan with the intent of providing a shared
vision for the community, paired with short-term goals and the policy direction
necessary for staff to devote City resources to the identified Work Plan areas. This
tiered approach places emphasis on the partnership among City Council members and
City staff. Working together as a team has created the synergy necessary to make the
City Council Work Plan a productive element that guides the excellent services provided
to the community.
Submitted by:
Maria Lara
Management Analyst
Approved by:
~~~~
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
Page 7 of 7
