The exercise was part of the City's ongoing
emergency preparedness training. Lessons learned from the exercise will be
incorporated into future training programs during the coming year. The Fire
Department also plans to develop a public education program for the Pandemic Flu.
The Cities of Pleasanton and Livermore jointly own an 800 MHz radio system that
services both agencies; and is becoming outdated and unreliable. Implementation of the EBRCS system will remain a top priority for
Pleasanton over the coming year.
Quality of Life
• Protect and Enhance Pleasanton's Quality of Life: The seismic upgrade and interior
and exterior renovations of the Veterans Memorial Building were completed this past
summer.
Two other well-known landmarks -the Alviso Adobe and the Railroad Avenue Fire
Station -are projects that are in progress. The Alviso Adobe is under construction
and will be fully restored to its original condition. The project will be completed this
summer.
The former firehouse located at 4444 Railroad Avenue in Downtown will be
converted into a 250-seat performance arts theater and art gallery beginning in
2008. The construction contract will be presented for City Council approval later this
year.
Environmental Awareness
• Pursue Environmental Awareness, Health, Land Use & Preservation Issues: Four
projects, in this area have significantly progressed.
