18
THE CITY OF
L£~S~4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
P
February 19, 2008
Administrative Services
TITLE: REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE SCOPE AND PROCESS FOR UPCOMING
LABOR NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE PLEASANTON POLICE
OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (PPOA)
SUMMARY
The Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Pleasanton and the
Pleasanton Police Officers Association (PPOA) expires on May 31, 2008.
Representatives from both parties are required to meet and confer to develop a
successor agreement. This is the first of two public discussions related to this matter.
The first session introduces the matter and allows for open discussion prior to formal
action to adopt the successor agreement. The second session will take place once the
meet and confer process has concluded and a new Memorandum of Understanding is
brought to City Council for approval. This is anticipated to occur in mid-2008.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council conduct an open discussion on the scope and
process for the upcoming negotiations with the Pleasanton Police Officers Association.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no fiscal impact for this item.
