3 <br />THE CITY OF <br />- ~ -~- ~"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~E~S~4NTONo <br />February 19, 2008 <br />Parks and Community Services <br />TITLE: APPROVAL OF A CONSULTANT AGREEMENT WITH TANAKA DESIGN <br />GROUP, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,700, FOR PROFESSIONAL <br />SERVICES RELATED TO PLAY APPARATUS REPLACEMENT DESIGN <br />SUMMARY <br />Staff is recommending the firm of Tanaka Design Group of San Francisco for <br />preparation of schematic design and construction documents for replacement of play <br />apparatus and related site improvements at four (4) City parks. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve a Professional Services Contract with Tanaka Design Group, Inc., to <br />provide design services for the subject project; and <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached agreement. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The cost for this proposed work is not-to-exceed $31,700. Funding is available and <br />budgeted in the Park Renovation Fund. The proposed landscape architectural design <br />work will address the replacement of outdated play apparatus at Amaral, Meadowlark, <br />Tennis and Community, and Valley Trails parks, with the likely result that maintenance <br />and repair costs will be reduced for the Parks Maintenance Division. <br />
