Exhibit A <br />Scope of Services <br />for <br />Landscape and Gateway Improvement Project <br />at the <br />Hopyard Road and I-580 Interchange <br />December 19, 2007 <br />Tanaka Design Group will be responsible for providing all proposed services and products as outlined <br />below. <br />Required Tasks as described by the RFP and City Staff Directions: <br />1. Exploration of the project site, its physical conditions, limitations and existing conditions. <br />2. Review and incorporation of existing utilities, improvements, and all current applicable code <br />requirements into the proposed project. <br />3. Provide recommendation for plant selection subject to review and approval by the City. <br />4. Preparation of project construction documents, including the design of irrigation system, plant <br />spacing and plant location, detailed plan for planting, etc. <br />5. Coordinate with Caltrans to obtain all necessary permits and approvals. <br />6. Preparation of detailed project specification and contract documents including Special Provisions <br />and Technical Specifications to incorporate project-specific requirements and identify required <br />submittals. This shall also include the selection of trees and groundcover, soil amendments, <br />choice of fertilizer, planting instructions, etc. <br />7. Preparation of cost estimate for budget review and for bid evaluations. <br />8. Answer all technical questions from prospective bidders during the bidding period and progress <br />towards recommendation and preparation of addenda as necessary. <br />9. Review all material submittals and ship drawings for compliance with contract documents. <br />10. Provide a license arborist on an on-call basis during plant installation, if requested by the City. <br />11. Meet with City staff before start of work, midway through preliminary design, after submittal of <br />preliminary design, and at 50% and at 90% construction documentation review stages. <br />Tanaka Design Group Proposed Approach to Services <br />The anticipated work products identified in the RFP will be delivered to City of Pleasanton's Public Works <br />Department as summarized below: <br />Work Product No. 1 Site Analysis and Concept Development: <br />^ Gather all existing information as available, such as plot plans and surveys, documentation describing <br />adjacent improvements, easements, restrictions, previously prepared development drawings, <br />geotechnical engineering or soil evaluation reports, etc. <br />^ Review and comment on survey work to determine if additional existing information is required. <br />^ Identify existing utilities. <br />^ Identify and assess potential permit or code compliance requirements mandated by local, state, or <br />federal authorities. Initiate meetings with Caltrans' appointed project manager for this project. <br />^ Begin meetings with Staff to receive their ideas, concerns and questions regarding the entrance <br />gateway. <br />^ Confirm design information reflecting desired elements from the Staff, and receive ongoing directions. <br />^ Prepare Site Analysis Plans and Conceptual Design Plans, including various options and/or <br />alternatives, for general discussion with Staff. <br />Work Product No. 2: Landscape Design Package <br />^ Begin preparation of base sheets. <br />^ Prepare preliminary Schematic Design plans reflecting input received from Staff (from their review of <br />the Site Analysis and Conceptual Design Plans), including alternative schematic plans for Staff <br />review. <br />
