DRAFT <br />Bus Service <br />3. Circulation Element <br />Wheels provides public bus service for the Tri-Valley communities of Pleasanton, Dublin, and <br />Livermore. The buses serve neighborhoods, businesses, and schools providing an important public <br />transit feature for those who need or want an alternative to automobiles. With regional connections <br />via BART, Wheels also provides local travel options. <br />The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authoritycurrently plans a new Route 10 Bus Rapid Transit <br />project ~ PID, along its existing Route 10. This route runs from the Pleasanton/Dublin BART' <br />station to the Lawrence Livermore and Sandia National Laboratories. The RAPID service would <br />substantially reduce commute times along this line. <br />The City currently maintains aDial-A-Bus aratransit service for senior and l~~disabled <br />residents on weekdays providing about 60~ercent of the program's operating budget. <br />' The City Department of <br />Parks and Community Services provides drivers who operate the bus service on a regular schedule <br />during weekday hours and by appointment during evenings and weekends. Wheels supplements this <br />paratransit service with weekend and extended-hour weekday service. <br />Several regional transit companies and private shuttles also serve Pleasanton. The County Connection <br />in Contra Costa Count provides BART express bus service between the Walnut Creek BART Station <br />and the Pleasanton/Dublin BART station. The San oac~uin Regional Transit District provides bus <br />service from the San ~oacluin Valley to the Hacienda Business Park with separate service to the BART <br />station The Modesto Area Express (MAXI provides bus service between Modesto and the <br />Pleasanton/Dublin BART station as well as between Modesto and the Lathrop/Manteca ACE train <br />station Several companies~rovide private shuttles to/from Pleasanton for their employees, while <br />several taxi companies operate in the city. <br />Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities <br />The City of Pleasanton's Community Trails Master Plan provides general direction as to the proposed <br />location of pedestrian and bicycle recreational facilities. The City has received funding to create a <br />pedestrian and bicycle master plan to explicitly address on-street facilities that will complement and <br />expand on the existing Community Trails Master Plun. See Figure 3-13 for existing and proposed <br />pedestrian and bi~cle trails and paths The proposed plan will prioritize projects establish new <br />standards for bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and be incorporated into the fllameda Countvzvide Biewcle <br />Plan and the Alameda Countyzvide Strategic Pedestrian Plan. <br />Circulation Element 012908 redline 3-33 City Council Ol 29 08 <br />
