From: Jennifer Hostennan [mailto:JHosterman@ci.pleasanton.ca.us]
Sent: Friday, September 15, 2006 2:11 AM
To: Dan Carl; Jeffrey Bretzing
Cc: Nelson Fialho
Subject: RE: Possible Code Violation -keeping of young raptor at Jennifer Hosterman's
residence on Chardonnay
Cart,
You are such an ass. The City doesn't have jurisdiction over falconry licenses. The sport is
governed by the State of California and the Federal Government. I'll let you dig, there, to find
out if I'm legal or not. Happy hunting. I'm copying my Master Falconer, as he'll get a real laugh
out of this! Really, Cart, get a life. You should apologize.
Jennifer
-----0riginal Message----
From: Dan Carl [mailto:dacarlil@-comcast.net]
Sent: Wednesday, September 13, 2006 8:54 PM
To: Jeffrey Bretzing
Cc: Nelson Fialho; Jennifer Hostemian
Subject: Possible Code violation -keeping of young raptor at Jennifer Hosterman's residence on
Chardonnay
Dear Mr. Bretzing,
I have heard multiple reports (most recently at the Scottish Games) of Jennifer Hosterman
keeping a captive young raptor at her premises. It is my understanding that such a situation
would require a special permit, and it is also my understanding that such a permit does not exist
for her household on Chardonnay. (I have not seen a public hearing for such a permit in the past
5 years in searching through the archives).
I will be the first to apologize for wasting any of your time or the City's time if I am incorrect in this
assertion. I am copying Ms. Hosterrnan and Mr. Fialho, so this request is open and above board.
If 1 am correct in this observation, what actions must Ms. Hosterman take to comply with city
law? If she has been in violation of a zoning requirement for over a year, what penalties, if any,
are appropriate?
Please feel free to contact me ff you have any questions.
Best Regards -
Dan Carl
353-0134
//
