12 <br />,T,HE CITY OF <br />" ~ •'~'~ '-"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~E~S~4NTONo <br />January 15, 2008 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY CALIFORNIA <br />PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE COMPANY FOR SLURRY SEALING OF <br />VARIOUS CITY STREETS, CIP NO. 065004 <br />SUMMARY <br />Construction of the subject project is complete and is ready for acceptance. The project <br />consisted of improving the roadway surface on various City streets by applying Type II <br />black volcanic aggregate slurry seal coating and the replacing of the existing traffic <br />striping and markers as part of an ongoing preventive maintenance program. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br />2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br />3. Authorize final payment to California Pavement Maintenance Company in the <br />amount of $4,500. <br />4. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $22,889.58 to California <br />Pavement Maintenance Company thirty days after recordation of the Notice of <br />Completion. <br />5. Authorize the City Manager to transfer the remaining balance of $15,990.18 from <br />the subject project, CIP No. 065004 (Annual Slurry Sealing), to CIP No. 065005 <br />(Annual Sidewalk/Intersection Ramp Installation). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This project is part of the City's preventative maintenance efforts and is expected to <br />reduce long-term maintenance costs. <br />
