THE CITY OF 11 <br />'`-"- CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j'L~~S~NTONo <br />January 15, 2008 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD <br />CONTRACT TO MCNAMARA & SMALLMAN CONSTRUCTION IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $451,895 FOR ANNUAL SANITARY SEWER <br />REPLACEMENT, CIP NO. 072002 <br />SUMMARY <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending award of the <br />construction contract to the low bidder in the amount of $451,895. The project consists <br />of replacing existing damaged sewer mains, laterals and manholes with new industry <br />standard materials along various City streets and easements. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject project to <br />McNamara & Smallman Construction, Inc. of Livermore for a low bid amount of <br />$451,895. <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br />4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve change orders for a contingency <br />amount not to exceed $45,000 (approximately 10% of the construction contract) for <br />necessary project related work. <br />5. Authorize the transfer of the balance of CIP No. 062002 (Annual Sanitary Sewer <br />Replacement) to the current project, CIP No. 072002 (Annual Sanitary Sewer <br />Replacement), in the amount of $134,121.50. <br />6. Authorize the appropriation of $95,500 from the sewer replacement fund to CIP No. <br />072002, Annual Sanitary Sewer Replacement. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The completion of this project is expected to reduce sewer maintenance costs. <br />
