In addition, <br /> the employer is then faced witll the problem of <br /> defending the new and accurate data which is a <br /> difficult burden in view of the fact that the <br /> Affirmative Action plan has, in many instances, set <br /> forth conflicting data, sometimes for several <br /> years. <br /> <br /> Benefits <br /> <br /> A technically correct and up-to-date Affirmative Action Plan <br /> provides an employer with a multitude of benefits. ' It insures <br /> first of all that the Plan through its accuracy is more <br /> practical, realistic and ultimately workable tDan an idealistic <br /> Plan based upon hypotheses and/or inaccurate data. It insures <br /> t]xe Plan can more reasonably be expected to be monitored. With <br /> accurate data, there is more likelihood that those responsible <br /> <br /> its results. It insures the Plan is easy to maintain since tl~e <br /> majority of statistical data in it will serve the employer until <br /> about 1992 ~.;hen the 1990 census data is available. It limits the <br /> employer's EEO liability because it does not unnecessarily and <br /> inaccurately identify underutilization. Likewise, it does not <br /> establish unattainable and often discriminatory ~oais. <br /> <br /> Project Overvie~,; <br /> <br />Biddle & Associates and City of Pleasanton staff will work <br />together to update the plan. The project will include several <br />one day meetings, during which as much ~;ork as possible is <br />conducted; remaining work such as further ~ data collection, <br />mathematical calculations, narrative development, is carried on <br />by Biddle & Associates and City Staff ,at their respective offices <br />after the workshop, but within specified and agreed-upon time <br />frames. <br /> <br />The City's completed work is mailed to Biddie & Associates for <br />review. Biddle & Associates reviews the materials to ensure the?' <br />desired result is obtained. <br /> <br />Next, Biddle & Associates and tl~e City Staff prepare for. the <br />upcoming tasks in the Project.
