EXHIBIT "A" rrm group
creating environments people enjoy'
RRM Design Group STAPLES RANCH PARK
3765 S. Higuera St., Ste. 102 City of Pleasanton
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 Scope of Services
P: (805)543-1794
F: (805) 543-4609 November 27, 2007
vrww.rrmdesign.com
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
The City of Pleasanton is currently considering the annexation and development of a property
known as Staples Ranch, adjacent the I-580 corridor on the Eastern edge of the City. Primary
vehicular access to the future commercial uses of the property is via I-580 at EI Charro Road.
Additionally, the western portion of the property is being considered for development of a
residential Continuing Care Community for seniors. On the southern edge of the property,
approximately 17 acres will be dedicated and improved as a City community park. Additionally,
approximately 5 acres on a separate parcel will be allocated for a neighborhood park/storm water
retention basin. Access to the park site will be from an extension of Stoneridge Drive, over the
Arroyo Mocho.
As a result of previous discussions and hearings before the City's Parks and Recreation Commission
and City Council, several uses have been identified for the future community park. These potential
uses include passive open space, sports fields, tennis courts, lawn bowling, dog exercise area,
bocce courts and restrooms. In addition, an ice arena has been proposed, containing four rinks and
associated facilities.
The purpose of this work scope is to define tasks to be undertaken that will result in a park master
plan, prepared with input from stakeholder groups and interested citizens. Because the parks are
part of the larger development and annexation plans for Staples Ranch, the public outreach and
concept design process must be completed by April, 2008.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The following tasks outline the general approach to the work to be completed during the public
outreach and concept design.
Task A1: Stakeholder Meetings
RRM, in conjunction with City staff, will meet with various project stakeholders as necessary to
discuss areas of general interest and potential park amenities. The stakeholder groups may include
open space interests, sports groups, neighbors, and other interested parties. The intent of the
meetings will be to discuss the type of park amenities that could be accommodated on Staples
Ranch Community Park, and how this site relates to other parks within the City regarding active and
passive uses. Meetings may take place at City Hall, or an alternative location. Stakeholder meetings
may also occur between the public workshops described in Task A3.
Deliverables: Meeting notes and any diagrams resulting from discussions (Assumes four (4)
trips to Pleasanton for assigned consultants)
Estimated Fee: Time and Materials -hourly; $9,000 (see footnote)
COMMUNITY ~ CIVIC & PUBLIC SAFETY ~ RECREATION ~ EDUCATION ~ URBAN
ARCHITECTS I ENGINEERS I EXHIBITDESIGNERS I LANDSCAPEARCHITECTS (PLANNERS (SURVEYORS
A Cailania Caporalan ~ Victa MaNgomcry.
