brochures and a website that features an online business directory as well as available properties. Quarterly, <br />the committee selects one downtown property owner or business to receive the NEAT (Neighborhood <br />Environment Attractiveness Team) Award who is then recognized in The Pleasanton Weekly. Within the <br />committee is the Ambassadors Sub-Committee with 13 volunteers. <br />Economic Restructuring: The Downtown Vitality Committee includes six board members and <br />approximately six volunteers and property owners. The committee works to improve the economic vitality of <br />downtown. The committee continues to assist the existing businesses and property owners in the district through <br />information, networking and programs. Within the committee is the Parking Sub-Committee. <br />Design: The Design & Beautification Committee includes two board members and approximately six <br />volunteers. This committee is involved in recommending and commenting on planning and design issues to the <br />City. They are also involved in coordinating with the City to implement projects in the Downtown Specific Plan. <br />The Murals Sub-Committee with seven volunteers is under the oversight of the Design Committee. <br />SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS <br />The PDA recorded another successful year, with a number of significant accomplishments: <br />^ The PDA organized and orchestrated a total of 33 events: (4) First Wednesday Street Parties; (2) Antiques <br />Fairest (15) Concerts in the Park; (1) Heritage Days; (1) Oktoberfest -anew PDA event, (2) Wine Strolls; <br />(2) Sidewalk Sales; (1) Magical Holiday Evening; (1) Annual Dinner; (1) Breakfast with the Board; and <br />(3) membership mixers. Additionally, we co-sponsored the July 4`~' Celebration and the City Youth <br />Concert. <br />^ The Murals Sub-Committee completed their first mural. Funded by the PDA and created by local artist <br />Gary Winter, "Celebrate this Beautiful Valley" is located on the corner of Main and St. Mary on the side <br />of Strizzi's Restaurant. <br />^ Over $45,000 spent to increase marketing of the PDA. <br />o Produced 30,000 Experience Downtown Pleasanton brochures. The brochure incorporates 2 maps, <br />the calendar of events and a membership directory. In December it will be distributed to 20,000 <br />homes adjacent to downtown. <br />o Produced 10,000 Downtown Pleasanton Visitors Guide (New) <br />o Produced 1000 Downtown Pleasanton Historical Walking Tour Brochures <br />o Produced 5,000 - 2006 Events Schedules. <br />o Produced 2000 What's Up Downtown postcards <br />o Produced a What's Up Downtown monthly calendar of activities and events. <br />o Promoted Downtown Pleasanton in numerous print media ads including newspapers, magazines, <br />annual guides in Pleasanton and Livermore, the Bankhead Theater program, etc. <br />o Sponsored a $12,000 holiday advertising campaign which included various print media and radio. <br />o Continued our marketing exposure through one-on-one interactions with hotels, wineries, <br />fairgrounds, business parks and numerous companies throughout the Tri-Valley. <br />o $4800 "Follow us to Downtown Pleasanton" Supertails ads for six months on two <br />WHEELS buses that rotate routes throughout the Tri-Valley. <br />o $8000 upgrade to the PDA website <br />o $5000 to initiate the process for a Downtown Gift Card to be launched beginning 2008 <br />^ Produced Downtown Happenings, a quarterly membership newsletter. <br />^ Produced a monthly E-News for members. <br />^ Produced A Guide to Downtown Outdoor Displays, distributed to the members and available at the City <br />for new businesses. <br />^ Created educational opportunities for members including seminars in Interior & Exterior Improvements, <br />Advertising, Technology, Merchandising & Displays and Customer Service. <br />^ Created opportunities for business networking with three membership mixers in March, August <br />(partnering with the Chamber of Commerce) and October. Co-sponsored a Regional Mixer in January in <br />2 <br />
