PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1565 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF PLEASANTON RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL THE <br />ANNEXATION OF 13.6 ACRES OF LAND ON STANLEY BOULEVARD <br />BELONGING TO JOSEPH MADDEN. <br />WHEREAS, Joseph Madden applied to the Alameda County Planning Com- <br />mission to rezone approximately 7.65 acres of land at the <br />eastern end of that section of Stanley Boulevard running <br />between Santa Rita Road and First Street from the A (Agri- <br />cultural) and Single Family District 8,000 sq. ft. minimum <br />lot size, to the C-2 (General Commercial) District; and <br />WHEREAS, the property, although located in the County is surrounded <br />by City of Pleasanton lands; and <br />WHEREAS, the application was referred to the City for comment, early <br />in 1977, and was reviewed by the Planning Commission on <br />March 9, 1977, and was continued to April 13, 1977, at the <br />applicant's request, when it was continued for an additional <br />six months pending the applicant processing a request for <br />annexation of said property to the City of Pleasanton; and <br />WHEREAS, in the interim period, a neighborhood meeting was held on <br />June 7, 1977, and all of the property owners within the <br />unincorporated pocket of territory were invited to hear a <br />discussion on the benefits or disadvantages of being annexed <br />to the City of Pleasanton; and <br />WHEREAS, 26 residents and property owners from that neighborhood <br />attended the meeting; and <br />WHEREAS, those property owners objected to any procedures undertaken <br />which would annex their property to the City of Pleasanton; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, on September 14, 1977, the review of a request by Mr. Madden <br />to annex his lands to the City of Pleasanton was reviewed <br />by the Planning Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, testimony taken from several residents in the neighborhood <br />substantiated their original position of not wishing to <br />become a part of the City of Pleasanton; and <br />-1- <br />
