Okamura
City Engineer
City of Pleasanton
P. O. Box 520
Pleasanton, CA 94566

Proposal for Warning System

Dear Bob:

In response to your request, we have prepared this proposal to provide
consulting engineering services in connection with an outdoor warning and
public address system for PleasantOn.

SCOPE OF SEEVICES

The City of Pleasanton wishes to install an electronic outdoor warning and
public address system. To assist the City in soliciting bids for design,
furnishing, and installation of the system, CDM proposes to prepare
documents describing the City's needs. CDM will not design the system
itself but will define the performance limits of the design contract in
enough detail for suppliers to submit bids for their services. The system
requirements will be based on the memo from Fire Chief Hill to Bob Okamura
dated August 23, 1985. The following paragraphs describe CDM's proposed
approach and scope of services by task.

Task 1 - System Evaluation

a. Review system and hardware as previously proposed by Federal
Signal and Whelen.

b. Meet with the City's emergency services representatives to
determine the City's requirements for an outdoor warning
system.

Task 2 - Preparation of Bid Documents

a. Define suppliers' responsibilities to include system and
hardware design, including choosing locations; installation
and furnishing of all hardware; field testing; instruction of
City personnel; and guarantee of system performance.

b. Research alternate suppliers.
