^~~ KimleyHorn Supplemental WeekdayNVeekend Traffic Analysis -Final Report
Ilia and Associates, inc. Home Depot, Pleasanton, CA
INTRODUCTION
In 2006, a traffic study was prepared for a new 193,481 square-foot shopping center
including Home Depot and other commercial retail development in the City of
Pleasanton.' The project was proposed to be constructed at the intersection of Bernal
Avenue and Stanley Boulevard in Pleasanton. The traffic study, prepared by Dowling
Associates, Inc., did not evaluate the potential weekend effects of the Stanley Home
Depot; the effect if the current Home Depot on Johnson Drive were to close; or the
effect if the Stanley Boulevard site is developed as a different use.
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inez was retained by the City of Pleasanton to prepare a
traffic study to evaluate the current and anticipated weekday and weekend traffic
conditions at or near the Home Deport project site and identify key intersections where
traffic operations may be affected as a result of the new Stanley Home Depot, potential
closure of the Johnson Drive Home Depot, and development of the Stanley site as a
different use. Kimley-Horn was also asked to evaluate the effect of the California
Splash Waterslide Park on weekend traffic conditions.
This traffic study was prepared based on discussions with, and criteria set forth by, the
City of Pleasanton.
Study Methodology
Development Conditions
Weekday analysis focused on the peak one hour periods between 7-9 AM and 4-6 PM.
The weekday analysis was based on the following development conditions:
• Weekday existing plus approved conditions -Based on current weekday
traffic counts plus previously approved projects and existing roadway geometry
and traffic control.
• Weekday existing plus approved plus Stanley Home Depot traffic
conditions -Based on existing traffic volumes plus previously approved projects
and traffic generated by the Stanley Boulevard Home Depot project. Includes
roadway projects anticipated to be in place at the same time the project is to be
completed.
Home Depot Shopping Center Study, Dowling Associates, Inc., July 14, 2006.
z Kimley-Horn is afull-service consulting firm offering planning, engineering, and environmental
engineering services.
