^~® Kimley-Horn Supplemental Weekday/Weekend Traffic Analysis -Final Report
and Associates, inc. Home Depot, Pleasanton, CA
Weekend Project Trip Distribution and Assignment
The project distribution for the weekend analysis was assumed to be similar to the PM
project trip distribution developed for the Home Depot Shopping Center Traffic Study by
Dowling Associates, Inc.
JOHNSON HOME DEPOT
Weekend Project Trip Generation, Internal Capture & Pass-by
Weekend trip generation was calculated for the existing Johnson Home Depot based on
ITE's Trip Generation Home Improvement Superstore land use (LU 862) and is shown
in Table 8.
Table 8 -Johnson Home Depot Weekend Trip Generation
Trips
LAND USE Saturday
Peak Hour Sunday
Peak Hour
In Out Total In Out -Total.
Home Improvement Superstore
(105.525 KSF) 302 268 570 302 268 570
Pass-by -
Home Improvement Superstore -80 -62 -142 -80 -62 -142
Total New Trips 222 206 428 222 206 428
Internal capture is based on a compilation of field data collection including in-person
interviews and a cordon traffic count. Because the Johnson Home Depot is an existing
use, in-person interviews would need to be conducted and a cordon count would need
to be taken in order to determine an accurate internal capture reduction. Because this
data was not readily available, no internal capture reductions were assumed.
Pass-by trips were calculated based on data published in ITE's Trip Generation
Handbook, 2nd Edition which includes weekday PM information.
To be consistent with the trip generation assumptions noted earlier, weekday PM pass-
by reductions were used for the weekend pass-by rates to the Home Improvement
Superstore (Land Use 862). The following pass-by rates were used in the analysis:
PleasantonHomeDepotOt3.FinalReport.doc 13 October 16, 2007
