List over past 10 years. <br />Due to its diversity of business, Pleasanton co~ztinues to be a stable economic market. <br />Over the past ten years, only a few large stores located along I-580 and 1-680 <br />freeways were vacated by the existing tenant resulting in the building remaining <br />empty for a period of time. Most recently, in March of this year, ConzptlSA closed its <br />California locations, including the Pleasanton store. In September, after 6 months of <br />vacancy, the City received an application for building improvements that will <br />accommodate a new tenant for the space. <br />The Galaxy Theater, located in the Rosewood Pavilion shopping center, closed in <br />2002. During this time, several inquiries ~~~ere made for use of the space although <br />none of these matured into an application with the City; likely this was due to a desire <br />to retain its use as a theater but an in ability to make such a project.financially <br />feasible. The space remained vacant until early 2005 ~~~hen the Planning Department <br />received an application for demotion and replacement of the structure to <br />accommodate a Broyhill Furniture store retail furniture store. Broyhill subsequently <br />decided not to occupy the space (due to a change in marketing direction). New Pla~z <br />Excel (the property owneJ) then began ~~~orking with another furniture retailer that <br />after many months also determined not to occupy the space due to company <br />co~zst~°aints. Wlzerei~z the building has been vacant and leasable for a little more than <br />a year, during this time staff has continued to work with Ne~~~ Plan Excel to, find a <br />suitable user for the space. Recently, in September, an application was submitted to <br />the City for building inzprovenzents that will accommodate a new retail tenant for the <br />space. <br />In early 2003, Linens N' Things closed its store in Metro 580 Plaza as pai°t of a <br />company decision to close multiple stores. The building remained vacant, for several <br />
