It shall be the duty of the person requesting any inspections required either by this code <br />or the technical codes to provide access to and means for inspection of the work. <br />In addition to scheduled inspections required herein, the Building and Safety Official <br />may inspect any existing building or structure for cause within the City or when <br />requested to do so by an owner or person acting under authority of the owner. Such <br />request shall be made in writing on forms furnished for such purpose. An application <br />shall be signed by the applicant who may be required to submit evidence to indicate <br />such authority. A statement of all findings shall be sent to the applicant and owner and <br />a record shall be kept on file in the office of the Building and Safety Official. <br />Applications shall be accompanied by an inspection fee based on the Fees and <br />Charges Appendix in the Municipal Code. <br />305A.4 Approval Required. Work shall not be done beyond the point indicated in each <br />successive inspection without first obtaining the approval of the Building and Safety <br />Official. The Building and Safety Official, upon notification, shall make the requested <br />inspections and shall either indicate that that portion of the construction is satisfactory <br />as completed or shall notify the permit holder or an agent of the permit holder wherein <br />the same fails to comply with this code. Any portions which do not comply shall be <br />corrected and such portion shall not be covered or concealed until authorized by the <br />Building and Safety Official. ' <br />There shall be a final inspection and approval by the Building and Safety Official of all <br />buildings, structures, plumbing, mechanical and or electrical and on-site permits when <br />completed and ready for occupancy and/or use. <br />305A.5 Required Building Inspections. Reinforcing steel or structural framework of a <br />part of a building or structure or any plumbing, mechanical or electrical components <br />shall not be covered or concealed without first obtaining the approval of the Building <br />and Safety Official. Protection of joints and penetrations in fire- resistive assemblies <br />shall not he concealed from view until inspected and approved. <br />The Building and Safety Official, upon notification, shall make the following inspections: <br />1. Foundation inspection. To be made after excavations for footings are complete and <br />required reinforcing steel and any plumbing, mechanical or electrical components are in <br />place. For concrete foundations, required forms shall be in place prior to inspection. All <br />materials for the foundation shall be on the job, except when concrete is ready-mixed in <br />accordance with approved nationally recognized standards, the concrete need not be <br />on the job. When the foundation is to be constructed of approved treated wood, <br />additional inspections may be required by the Building and Safety Official. <br />2. Concrete slab or under-floor inspection. To be made after under/or in-slab or under- <br />floor building service equipment, conduit, piping accessories, insulation and other <br />ancillary equipment items are in place but before any concrete is placed or floor <br />insulation or sheathing is installed, including the subfloor. <br />3. Frame inspection. To be made after the roof, framing, fire blocking and bracing are in <br />place and all pipes, chimneys and vents are complete and the rough electrical wires, <br />plumbing, and heating equipment and ducts are approved. <br />29 <br />
