~ - 3 -- AB 2191 <br /> <br /> 1 particular trustee area. <br /> 2 (c) That each governing board member be elected by <br /> 3 the registered voters of the entire community college <br /> 4 district, but reside in the trustee area that he or she <br /> 5 represents. <br /> 6 The recommendation shall provide that any affected <br /> 7 incumbent member shall serve out his or her term of <br /> 8 office and that succeeding board members shall be <br /> 9 nominated and elected in accordance with the method <br /> 10 recommended by the county committee. <br /> 11 Whenever the trustee areas are established or <br /> 12 rearranged in a'district, provision shall be made for one <br /> 13 of the alternative methods of electing governing board <br /> 14 members. <br /> 15 SEC. 3. Section 35102.5 is added to the Elections <br /> 16 Code, to read: <br /> 17 35102.5. The council may, pursuant to any agreement <br /> 18 with the governing board of a school district, assist the <br /> 19 governing board in adjusting the boundaries of trustee <br /> 20 areas of the district pursuant to Sections 5019.5 and 5019.6 <br /> 21 of the Education Code. , <br /> 22 SEC. 4. Notwithstanding Section 17610 of the <br /> · 23Government Code, if the Commission on State Mandates <br /> 24 determines that this act contains costs mandated by the <br />~ ~ 25 state, reimbursement to local agencies and school <br /> 26 districts for those costs shall be made pursuant to Part 7 <br /> 27 (commencing with Section 17500) of Division 4 of Title <br /> 28 2 of the Government Code. If the statewide cost of the <br /> 29 claim for-reimbursement does not exceed five hundred <br /> 30 thousand dollars ($500,000), reimbursement shall be <br /> 31 made from the State Mandates Claims Fund. <br /> <br /> O <br /> <br /> <br />
