School districts: trustee <br /> areas. <br /> Existing law authorizes the election of the members of a <br /> school district governing board by an at-large method, by <br /> trustee area where each member is elected by the voters of <br /> that trustee area, or by trustee area where each member is <br /> elected by the voters of the entire district, but resides in the <br /> trustee area that he or she represents. <br /> This bill would i'equire that the members of a school district <br /> governing board be elected by trustee area, such that each <br /> member residing in a trustee area is elected by the voters of <br /> that trustee area. This bill would thereby impose a <br /> state-mandated local program. <br /> Existing law requires school district governing boards to <br /> adjust trustee area boundaries following each decennial <br /> federal census. <br /> This bill would authorize the city council of any general law <br />city, pursuant to agreement with any school district <br />governing board, to assist the governing board in performing <br />O that responsibility. <br /> <br /> <br />
