CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 87-216 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OPPOSING AB 2190 AND AB 2191 REGARDING <br /> DISTRICT ELECTIONS FOR CITIES OVER 25,000 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, legislation has been introduced which, if adopted, would <br /> require district-wide elections to be held in cities of <br /> over 25,000 in population; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of May 19, 1987, Council reviewed this <br /> legislation and deemed it appropriate to strongly oppose <br /> adoption of AB 2190 and AB 2191; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of Pleasanton hereby indicates its <br /> strong opposition to AB 2190 and AB 2191, requiring <br /> district-wide elections for cities over 25,000 <br /> population. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Manager is directed to send a copy of this <br /> resolution to the appropriate legislators. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED MAY 19, 1987 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None ~ET~H~ <br />ATTEST: <br /> K R.
