II. SCOPE OF Reauest: Self Contained Breathing Apparatus Scope of request for this project includes the following minimum standard: 1. The open circuit self-contained breathing apparatus covered by this specification shall be of the type using compressed air. The SCBA shall be approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) as a positive pressure breathing apparatus. The SCBA shall meet the latest edition of the NFPA 1982 Standard on Personal Alert Safety Systems (PASS) and NFPA 1981 Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Standard, 2007 edition. The SCBA shall utilize a two stage system of pressure reduction. Main components of the SCBA shall include: • Facepiece and Communication System • First Stage Pressure Reducer • Rapid Intervention Company (RIC) Quick Fill System • Lung Demand Valve (LDV) with Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) approval • Backplate and Harness Suspension Assembly • Cylinder and Valve Assembly • Chest Mounted Electronic Gauge and Warning System • Integrated Personal Alert Safety System (IPASS) • Pull Forward Waist Belt • Buddy Breather/Airline Connection All components of the SCBA shall be arranged to minimize interference when maneuvering in confined spaces and when passing through small openings. Components of the SCBA shall be easily removed for routine service and maintenance. 2. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department is seeking the replacement of approximately: 94 SCBAs- One for each seat on fire apparatus and one for each command vehicle 10 SCBAs- Training SCBAs for use of academy recruits and training department. 300 Air cylinders; 18-60 minute air cylinders 282-30 minute air cylinders 130 SCBA masks, one each safety member 1 Facepiece 1.1 Body a. The facepiece shall utilize two independent sealing edges, providing three sealing rings. Should there be leakage in the outer sealing ring area, there are two additional sealing rings to maintain a seal. b. The facepiece shall adapt to all facial contours and provide excellent fit factors. The face mask must come in 3 different sizes (S, M, L). c. The size of the facemask must be clearly identified on the mask body with the letters S, M, L.
