Page 3

3. Future Noise Impacts

We will determine if noise mitigation is necessary to reduce noise
levels in outdoor use areas to the Cityts noise goal. This
assessment will compare future traffic noise projections obtained
from Task 2 with the City~s goals. As you know, t~e City of
Pleasanton in its Noise Element of the General Plan recommends
that noise levels in outdoor use areas not exceed an Ldn'of 60 dB.
We will summarize to what extent homes will be exposed to levels
in excess of the Cityts goal.

4. Noise Barrier ...

Based on the identified future noise impacts, we will recommend
the height, length, and location of a noise barrier to reduce
noise levels in outdoor use areas to the Cityts goal. Our
analysis would graphically show the location of the noise barrier
and tabulate the noise reduction. achieved for each home along the
roadway. This analysis will require roadway and residential pad
elevations to facilitate accurate noise barrier height and length
determinations. We assume that the City Engineer will be able to
provide this information. However, if necessary, we can provide
an engineering survey of the area. This work would be in addition
to the outlined scope and could be negotiated as part of a final
contract.

charles m. salter associates, inc.
