City of Pleasanton
STAFF 4
REPORT
November 17, 1987
City Manager

SUBJECT: Revision to County Solid Waste Management Plan

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Council approve the
attached language changes to the Alameda
County Solid Waste Management Plan as proposed
by the City of Hayward.

Honorable Mayor and Members of the Council:

BACKGROUND

The Council approved the Alameda County Solid Waste Management
Plan at the September 15, 1987 meeting. Following the Council's
approval, the City of Hayward proposed changes to the plan which
the Solid Waste Management Authority has adopted.

The Solid Waste Management Authority has asked that Pleasanton,
and the other three cities that had approved the plan earlier,
reconsider and approve the revisions proposed by Hayward.

The revision clarifies the Authority's policy to maintain at
least 50 years of landfill capacity for Alameda County waste.
Attached is a copy of the language changes adopted by the
Authority, which the Council is asked to approve.

Respectfully submitted,

City Manager

JRW/cf(csr87500)

SR87:500
