and magnitude of this work, it is understood that the CON- <br />SULTANT will not expend any effort and costs of any descrip- <br />tion beyond the $40,000 budget until the limit is increased <br />by mutual written agreement; separate accounting will be <br />established to monitor the progress and costs of this work. <br /> <br />Any substantial change in geometric configuration (number of <br />lanes or type of interchange) at any time after completion <br />of this task or receipt of approved preliminary drawings, <br />reports, documents and other material produced under AMEND- <br />MENT NO. 1 from Caltrans or others, may be cause for renego- <br />tiation of the fixed fee. <br /> <br />Task 2-1.8: Preliminary Landscape Plan <br /> <br />Prior to starting work on the preliminary landscape design <br />the CONSULTANT will attend an initial meeting with the City <br />and Caltrans to jointly determine concepts, guidelines and <br />general approach. After preparation of the preliminary land- <br />scape plan, it will be submitted once to the City and Cal- <br />trans for concurrent review and comment; the CONSULTANT will <br />meet once with the City and Caltrans to jointly determine <br />the appropriate review comments to incorporate in the pre- <br />liminary plan. After the modifications have been made, any <br />subsequent changes to the plan will be considered extra work. <br /> <br />TASK 2-2: FINAL DESIGN <br /> <br />The purpose of this task is to perform the detailed design <br />of the project and produce the construction drawings, spe- <br />cial provisions, and construction estimate required for the <br />contract documents. The contract documents will cover the <br />work necessary to bid and construct the bridges, ramps, free- <br />way auxiliary lanes, and roadway sections included in the <br />project. Subtasks include: <br /> <br />Task 2-2.1: Geometric Approval Drawings <br /> <br />Prepare ink on mylar drawings on standard Caltrans format <br />sheets showing design features of the proposed project. <br />Appropriate scales will be selected to illustrate the work <br />consistent with Caltrans format. Include alignment informa- <br />tion, profiles, cross-sections, construction details, con- <br />struction staging, and traffic control information to <br />describe the project. Include Bridge General Plans for the <br />recommended structures. Prepare preliminary quantity and <br />cost estimates. Prepare a summary memorandum and estimates <br />and submit concurrently with two sets of full-size blueline <br />prints to the City and Caltrans for concurrent review and <br />approval. <br /> <br /> <br />
