Ms. Ott said yes.
Ms. McGovern referred to agenda item 4f and asked if the City could obtain control over
the traffic signal at the intersection of Bernal Avenue and the I-680 southbound ramps?
Mr. Fialho said the traffic signal would primarily benefit those motorists trying to make a
left turn from the off-ramp onto westbound Bernal Avenue. CalTrans is requesting from the Ciry
an indication that all of the traffic signals are coordinated in part of the Citywide system.
Currently, the northbound Bernal exit has an existing traffic signal which is isolated and not
integrated with the remainder of the City's traffic system; therefore, Caltrans has not been
interested in relinquishing the signalization of this facility to the City until it can indicated to them
that it is part of a master system. With the installation of the second traffic signal, he believed it
would be possible for the City to regain control by making the case that it is part of a Citywide
signal program. Staff will be moving in this direction as part of this project.
It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Mr. Thorne, that the following actions
under the Consent Calendar be taken with the removal of item 4j to Public Hearings and
Other Matters, item 6h, and the removal of item 41 to be continued indefinitely:
a. Approved the minutes of 08/16/05.
b. Actions of the Zoning Administrator and Planning Commission. (IR 05:048)
No action was taken or required on this item.
c. Approved monthly disbursements and investment report for July 2005. (SR 05:240)
d. Proclaimed September 2005 as "National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month"
in the City of Pleasanton.
e. Adopted Resolution 05-066, a resolution requesting consent of the cities of Livermore,
Dublin and San Ramon to create the Tri-Valley Tourism Business Improvement District
(MBID). (SR 05:242)
f. Received information report on the construction of a new traffic signal at the intersection
of Bernal Avenue and the I-680 southbound ramps. (IR 05:049)
g. Approved contract with Lynx Technologies, Inc. to provide digital basemap maintenance
and general geographic information system (GIS) consulting services. (SR 05:243)
h. Proclaimed September 2005 as "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month" in the City of
Pleasanton.
Approved Volunteers in Police Services (NIPS) Parking Enforcement. (SR 05:238)
Approval of cooperative funding agreement with the City of Dublin and the East Bay
Regional Park District for the Alamo Canal Trail Feasibility Study, CIP 047020.
(SR 5:229)
This item was removed to Public Hearings and Other Matters, item 6h.
k. Approved reimbursement agreement with Standard Pacific of Northern California for
oversized storm drain line. (SR 05:245)
Pleasanton City Council 4 09/06/05
Minutes
