She urged Council not to approve the <br />project as designed. <br /> <br />Jed Sussman expressed concerns with the proposed development indicating it will <br />change the neighborhood. He believes the project is not congenial with the type of <br />neighborhood there. He referenced the letter submitted by Ms. Cousins who was <br />signed by many neighbors, including him, and expressed concerns with traffic, <br />safety, density, and the lack of preserving the open feeling of the neighborhood. He <br />urged that the project have fewer homes with larger lots. He urged Council not to <br />approve the project as designed. <br /> <br />Debbie Leuthauser commented on densities, sidewalk and traffic concerns on <br />Cameron. She also commented on the proposed sidewalk that will encroach on her <br />property. <br /> <br />Ms. Krakauer spoke about safety issues on Cameron. She indicated she is glad that <br />there will be a sidewalk, but is not supportive of taking property to do so. She <br />suggested a new way to ensure a sidewalk without taking property. She also noted <br />she is not supportive of a masonry wall; feels there should be stop signs at the entry <br />to both roads into the development and during the development phase, keeping <br />trucks off the road during commute times and with children going to school, it would <br />make it safer. <br /> <br />Dave Strother indicated his support for the project and noted that Ponderosa is an <br />excellent builder and has gone out of their way to meet the needs of the <br />neighborhood, especially on Palmer Drive. <br /> <br />Richard Morec concurred with the many concerns already expressed by his <br />neighbors. He noted concerns with the speed of traffic and added housing. He <br />indicated he was denied an encroachment permit for his driveway to have side <br />access. He noted he is not a fan of sidewalks or sound walls as it detracts from the <br />country feel of the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Natalie Herb shared the same concerns as previous residents. She referenced a <br />previous email sent to the Council stating her concerns. She indicated she bought in <br />this neighborhood for the country feel, no sidewalks, no curbs and how quiet it is in <br />the neighborhood. She stated the importance on maintaining that feel. She feels <br />traffic is the key issue and the speed that people driveltravel on Cameron. She <br />commented on the removal of the dead-end barrier on Cameron even though many <br />neighbors showed up to oppose the removal at a Planning Commission meeting. <br />She indicated the neighborhood was assured, at that time, that their concerns would <br />be referred to the City Council and that they would recommend that the barrier <br />remain and it disappeared within a couple of months. She commented further on <br />traffic/safety concerns and the loss of their beloved dog. She stressed tragedy's can <br />be avoided on Cameron. She indicated she does not oppose Ponderosa developing <br />at this site; she is just in opposition of the current project. <br /> <br />Edward Reedy stated his support for the current Ponderosa project plan which <br />includes the sidewalk on Cameron Avenue from Camp to Martin. He commented on <br />how well Ponderosa has worked with the residents on Palmer.
