<br />5. MEEnNG OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br />5a. Presentation of commendation to Pleasanton's chapter of Soroptimist International <br />for their 50th Anniversary of Services in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman read and presented Gloria Bragg, President of Soroptimist <br />International of PleasantonlDublin with the commendation. <br /> <br />5b. Citizen Comments <br /> <br />Norman Thomas commented on recent incidents at the Library and referenced how <br />the atmosphere of the Library changes once school is let out. He urged Council to <br />do whatever they might be able to do to assist the library in these matters. <br /> <br />Fred Norman thanked Councilmember Sullivan for honoring American Troops by <br />having a moment of silence. He commented on the continued loss of troops in Iraq <br />and asked for a permanent moment of silence at each City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Jack Hovingh commented on the conduct of some of the candidates in the local <br />election. He referenced illegal campaign signs and name calling in the newspapers, <br />and urged for a calling back of a community of character. <br /> <br />Andy Jensen advised that he and his wife are caregivers for Mr. Bill Carlson who <br />lives at the end of Sycamore Road. He explained Mr. Carlson agreed to annex into <br />the City when the north Sycamore specific plan was conducted. He noted two years <br />ago Mr. Carlson asked for utilities to be brought to his property as conditions to plan <br />and of the annexation. Mr. Jensen noted he has spoken to various officials for the <br />last two years and they have not been able to make any progress toward this goal. <br />He distributed copies of correspondence conducted over the last two years and <br />requested assistance from the Council. <br /> <br />Staff responded since they have become aware of this, in the last 4 or 5 months, <br />they have been working with Greenbriar Community Homes to try to get resolution to <br />this issue; however, not much progress at this point. Staff will continue to work <br />through the issue. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman asked that if the matter takes too long that Council be made aware <br />of the progress. <br /> <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> <br />6a. Public Hearing: PAP-95, Stan and Stacey Knight, appellants, consideration of an <br />appeal of a Planning Commission decision approving the appeal by Dennis and <br />Barbara Georgatos of the Zoning Administrator's administrative design review, <br />approval to construct a 180 square-foot covered patio, a 292-square-foot first-floor <br />addition on the rear; and an approximately 1,251 sq. ft. second-story addition over <br />part of the center and side portions of the existing residence located at 779 Mirador <br />Court (SR 06:245) <br /> <br />Community Development Director Iserson presented the staff report and gave a <br />detailed overview of the proposal.
