In response to question regarding the discrepancy in the height of Mr. Boag's
home, it was noted that it is measured from curb-top to rooftop.

Finlay Boag addressed the Council indicating he is not the leader of any group to
stop Mr. Boyce's project, adding it is not personal. There are other people that
have been taking the lead in opposing his project, which he agrees with. He
commented on how he proceeded with his project and how he hired Mr. Shutts to
help them stay with the charm and character of Second Street. They could have
added much more square footage onto the house and still not needed a variance
for that, but they didn't want to do that. He commented on how he included the
neighborhood into his proposed plans. He urged the Council to move forward with
this and to not delay this any further by granting Mr. Boyce's request to consider
both requests at the same time. This Council is capable of reviewing and deciding
on this project based on its merits. He noted he has total support of the
neighborhood.

Theresa Aymer indicated her full support of Mr. Boag's project.

Joseph Hernan stated his full support of the project and should be judged on its
own merits.

Grace Lutman addressed the City Council and stated her support for the project.

Bonnie Krichbaum expressed her support for the project.

Christine Bourg spoke in support of the proposal.
Becky Duret said she is in full support of what is proposed.
Art Dunkley urged the Council to allow the Boag's to move forward with their
addition.

Mr. Boyce indicated he does not want to take anything away from the Boag
addition, referencing his previous comments. Regarding his property, he indicated
he does have three variances on his proposed plans, which are small, and have
staff support. He will deal with those when his project comes forward.

Hearing no further requests to speak, the public hearing was closed.

Councilmember Brozosky indicated, based on the merits of this project, he
supports the project as it fits within the character of the community.

Councilmember Thorne revealed that he discussed the project with some of the
neighbors and visited the project site. He believes the two projects need to be
reviewed separately. He said the Boag project fits the character of the
neighborhood and he supports it.

Councilmember Sullivan agreed and believes the Council should be careful with
the downtown and Second Street, as there is a lot of heritage there to be mindful
of. He supported looking at each project separately.

City Council Minutes

September 19, 2006
